        China has become the most eye catching place in the world as the Olympic Games is drawing near,the western medias are pointing their fingers to the stage all at once,with China standing alone,right on the spotlight.Many Chinese people,like myself,are wondering why the western medias are trying so hard to get the Beijing Olympic Games mixed up with politics,and why they care so much about Tibet,a place that few of them have ever stepped on.I sincerely hope those who are accusing China for "conquering Tibet and violating human rights in Tibet"can come to Tibet and have a careful study of the place and see if the Tibetan culture and tradition have been destroyed and make some comparison with how the American Indian's culture and tradition were treated ever since the May Flower arrived at American continent,and recall what Chief Seattle once said "there was a time when our people covered the land as the waves of a wind-ruffled sea covers its shell-paved floor,but that time long since passed away,with the greatness of tribes that are but a mournful memory.The Indians night promises darkness.Not a single star of hope hovers above his horizon.Sad voiced winds mourn in the distance.Grim fate seems to be on the Red Man's trail,and whether he will hear the approaching footsteps of the destroyers,and prepare stolidly to meet his doom,as does the wounded doe that hears the approaching footsteps of the hunters.

    The athletes from all over the world have prepared 4 years and and Chinese people have waited many generations for this big day,a nation that was haunted by famine and chaos for several thousand years.To our disappointment,many western medias keep yelling at China in a tone of cold war period,it seems to me they know a lot better how to run this country.I'm not a communist,neither do I understand much politics,so I'm not qualified enough to say which is right,which is wrong.Personally,I think ruling a country is more or less like handling a marriage.Whether or not its a happy marriage,the couple knows a lot better than the outsiders.It makes no sense for the outsiders to observe and judge the married life of the couple day and night.Why don't they leave the couple some privacy or keep one eye closed at least? We do like democracy,we do like freedom of speech,which will happen in China sonner or later,which is just a matter of time.I hope those true friends of China can understand that a birth of a healthy baby needs 9 months' pregnancy,let alone the time for the social transformation of a huge country like China.With more and more frequent communications with the outside world,forced by the globalizations,many things in China will be fixed or improved."A small boat is easy to turn around",a gigantic vessle like China can not afford a sharp turn.

       Chinese people respect western culture very much and we hope our culture can be respected in the same manner.Many famous Chinese historical figures were greatly influenced by the western culture,like Mr.Gu Hong Min ,Mr.Yan Fu and Mr.Hu Shi,the pioneers of Chinese modernizations at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuary.Believe or not,"New Concept English",a book of English language training program has been one of the best sellers in China for nearly 20 years now,many Chinese students are flooding into the western countries to study,to experience a different world.To some extent,China's social progress will rely on these young people,a generation with the background of both Chinese culture and western culture.However,they got puzzled by what they had found out during the the Olympic torch reley,many of them ended up being disillusioned,unable to figure out why the western world turned a cold shoulder to China right before this big event.

      I bet most of those who are accusing China have never been to our country,what they know about China is merely Chinese food,Bruce Lee and Jackie Chen's movies.Like it or not,I hope those commentators and news reporters working at the various western meidas can cool down and read some books on Chinese history and Chinese phylosophy before making their comments,putting their fingers into the pie.The western world should understand that China had no tradition to invade or conquer any other nation,or build up military bases on any foreign soil.Chinese people,mostly farmers even today,have been tied to the farming land generation after generation,dedicated to crop farming for thousands of years.Untill early 1950's,most of Chinese cities and towns got walls surrounding the whole places.The Great Wall,the wall of the entire country,safe guarding China from the invasions by the nomads from the north,is a symbol of China,reflecting the phylosophy of a typical crop farming nation,that has been defending itself all the time,never attempted attacking,except for the Yuan Danasty,the only glory and pride in China's history..

     In my opinion,our government should understand that international relationship is not simply relationships between the governments.The numerous NGOs in the western countries have very powerful influence to their governments.Our government should understand the medias in the west have a very powerful impact on their governments' policies.Besides,the congress is very powerful too,whose voice is quite different from the voice of their governments.So,our government needs to pay great attention to the NGOs,media and congress in the west and communicate more closely with them.Most importanly,our government should give more freedom to our own media,give more power to our People's Representative Congress,and encourage more and more NGOs,who can share the burdens with the government,and this has already been proved in the rescue job after the earthquake in Sichuan.Running a company needs a good team work,running a country also needs a team work,its unrealistic to reply on the goverment only,who has always been deemed in China as Almighty Being.

     The Beijing Olympic Games is not just an opportunity but also a big challenge to China.A country with 5 thousand years' history,China has good reason to be more mature,to be self-confident and tolerant enough to the criticisim from the rest of the world."Sticks and stones break my bones but names will never hurt me".Globalization is a two edged sword.We have no choice,but go through a painful experience of cultural conflicts going forward,like it or not.Late American president Richard Nixon said:"History has brought us together.The question is wether we,with different phylosophies,but both with feet on the ground,and having come from the people,can make a breakthrough that will not just serve China and America,but the whole world in the years ahead."(The Kissinger Transcripts).The question once faced the world leaders in the 1970's is still there,and needs to be answered by the world leaders today,a test to their intellegence and wisdom.

      All of us on this planet should think in a new way,work together closely to build up a bridge,not to build an invisible "Berlin Wall" to isolate China.Let's leave the sensitive topics aside for the time being,set our eyes on the comming Olympic Games,set our eyes on the sports field,join the cheer leaders,not the bull fighters.
